Patrol is a lifestyle

Patrollers come from all walks of life. Candidate training will challenge you and your abilities in amazing ways.

Our volunteer corp is comprised of National Ski Patrol members, with the prerequisite credential, Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC).

The first year requires a strong commitment, as the OEC course takes approximately 2 1/2 months of part-time training that fits the lifestyle and pace of working adults.

Next, a mandatory two-day, dry-land training weekend, covers skills and procedures, like: radio codes, knots and rope work, electronic patient care reports, and general orientation.

Room Patrollers start their orientation and mentoring process in the aid room.

Once the snow falls, Alpine Patrol Candidates undergo several weekends of ski/snowboard toboggan training.

Then, candidates are observed by mentors, as they run their first emergency calls. Once mentors are satisfied, the Candidate is rewarded with full patroller status, and the right to wear the Patroller’s Cross.
